little shopping bag card!

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Another fab sketch this week from the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog, a cute little pocket with a tag inside. I decided to make a little shopping bag with a little tag/card with a slot for a gift voucher.

I've been trying to play around with different color combos, I can be a little tame with my color choices sometimes!! They're still pretty subtle colors though!

I made the little pocket using paper from the Prima Marketing Jack & Jill Collection. I stamped the green paper behind the pocket using Text-It from Waltzingmouse Stamps in VersaMark TeaLeaves. The top of the tag I stamped with the motif from Victorian Fripperie.

The little tag is from Holiday Labels No.14 by Waltzingmouse Stamps, it's the little centre from one of the labels. The sentiment is from the Nutcracker Sweet. The flower is Prima.

The little tag/card has a little slot on it to hold a gift voucher. The paper again is from the Jack & Jill Collection. Hope you like! : )

Now go have a look at some of the fabulous creations from the Mischief Makers and some of the WMS DT. Have a lovely day!!

JustRite 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hop 8

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Welcome to JustRite Stampers' newest Wednesday feature, 12 weeks of Christmas Blog Hops 8! Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite's entire Christmas Collection of Stamps! And don't forget that JustRite has some Christmas stamps in their newly released CLING line of stamp sets - you can find them here. This week, the designers joining the JustRite design team are the Flower Soft and The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog design teams! So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog!

So, here's my creation, I decided to go with warm gold tones and rich red to reflect the wording in the sentiment. The sentiment I used is from the JustRite Christmas Collection - Christmas Nested Sentiments and Verse. The wording in the sentiments are really special, I love using them!

I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark and heat embossed using Mirror Gold embossing powder. I layered the sentiment onto some matt gold card ( I used the same gold card under the lace) and distressed the edges by sponging with Gold Creative Inspirations Paint.

The pretty flower is a Prima, I added a little natural twine, yellow gold satin ribbon and some torn cream dress lining behind it. I love these flowers, the fabric is just beautiful.

The pretty red paper came with the last issue of Crafts Beautiful Magazine. I sponged a little more of the Gold paint around the edges of the paper.

Please visit these designers' blogs to see what fabulous JustRite Christmas inspiration they have for you on the hop today!

Cardmaking & Papercraft Mag (UK) Issue 85

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine (Issue 85) is out today, there's a brilliant tutorial by Dorothy Wood on how to make your own Christmas crackers, can't wait to try it!! I have a few cards in this issue. I was given the Designer Challenge, to create some Christmas cards using some Imaginisce Cottage Christmas papers, flowers and ribbons. Here's a few pics of the cards before I sent them off.

I love the Cottage Christmas papers, they are gorgeous!! They make it really easy to make a card! I had lots of fun creating these!

There's some great projects in the magazine this month, including a gorgeous wreath made with handmade paper flowers by Anna Davenport. I'm definitely inspired!! Make sure you grab a copy and check it out!

Consider it CASED!

Monday, October 25, 2010

This week's challenge #33 at The Shabby Tea Room is hosted by Debbie, the theme - Consider it CASED! The challenge is to CASE (copy and slightly edit) a Shabby Girl DT card!! Should be fun!! : ) This week's sponsor is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps - I Did It Creations and they're offering a great prize of some digi stamps.

They provided the team with some digi stamps to work with, I used 'Fruity Strawberries'. Where are the strawberries I hear you ask, well there was this lovely flower alongside the strawberries, so as a flower addict I decided to try and make a little 3D flower from the digis. I printed two different sized flowers, 3 large and two small, painted them with some Creative Inspirations Paint, cut them out, layered them and added a pearl centre. Turned out quite pretty!

The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps (I love this set, use it a lot!), stamped in VersaMagic Sage and a little blue to get the right shade. I've recently acquired an addiction to Zva Creative crystals too, they're just so pretty and make a card really special. I just wish they were easier to get where I live!

Sometimes I don't like the black outlines you have with digital images, I found you can soften the look a little by just rubbing a white ink pad lightly over the edges. I used Brilliance Moonlight White, I think it just takes the harshness of the black away a bit! (Just my opinion!)

The pretty papers are from the Mariposa Stack. I only noticed when I was finished the card that the little birdie with it's wings out looks like it's perching on the baker's twine!! A happy accident! : )

Don't forget to check out all the lovely creations from the rest of the Shabby Girls!! Have a great day!

Supplies:

Card/Paper:White card, Mariposa Stack DCWV, 7Gypsies Conservatory collection
Ink: Brilliance Moonlight White, VersaMagic Sage, Memento Danube Blue
Stamps: I did It Creations - Fruity Strawberries, Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Other: Zva Creative crystals, green and white baker's twine, button, lace, sewing machine, flat backed pearl, peach seam binding, white satin ribbon, foam pads, Creative Inspirations Paint - Fairy Dust, Peach, Tickled Pink.

sweet cupcakes!

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Here's my card for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge, yes it is very PINK, that might be because I'm making a few masculine cards at the moment for a project and I feel the need to make something girly and pretty!! : ) Anyway, here's this week's sketch!

I'd been dying to use these cute cupcake stamps from the Frame-It set by Waltzingmouse Stamps from the moment I saw them! I used some Creative Inspirations Paint  to paint the tops of the cupcakes.

You can't have cupcakes without a few sprinkles, right? So I added some little pink beads to the tops of a row of the cakes.

These little hearts are from the Sweethearts set by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I added a few little pink heart buttons that I had in my stash on top.

The sentiment is from the Half Pint Heros set. The whole background is stamped using stamps from Text It. Everything is stamped using Memento Rose Bud Ink.

Don't forget to check out the gorgeous creations this week from the Mischief Makers and the WMS DT, they're as diverse and amazing as usual!! : )

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card
Ink: Memento Rose Bud Ink
Stamps: Frame It, Text It, Sweethearts and Half Pint Heroes by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Other: Hot pink seam binding, sewing machine, pink heart buttons, foam pads, pink beads, Zva Creative crystals, chipboard circle tag, pink embroidery thread, pink blending chalk.

Wedding card

Friday, October 22, 2010

I made this wedding card for a family member going to a cousin's wedding this weekend. I went with pretty traditional colors, soft whites and pale blues. It was nice to go all out with the crystals, pearls and lace!!

The little dove is from Tattered angels, I painted it with Ivory Creative Inspirations Paint and embossed with silver pearl. The lovely lace trim I received in a lace swap with Sylvia. The flower is Prima. I had the swirl stitched paper in my stash.

I made a simple box to keep it safe and just a little special for presentation. I lined the box with a little tissue paper.

Supplies:

Card/Paper: Silver hammered card, stitched paper, printed sentiment
Other: Prima Flower, Zva Creative Crystals, self adhesive pearls, lace, sewing machine, pale blue seam binding, satin ribbon, foam pads.

Vintage Halloween Banner

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I've a new article today over at The Hybrid Chick, it's a tutorial on how to make a vintage style Halloween banner. Halloween can be vintage and pretty if you want!! Hope you like it!!

I used some gorgeous papers and vintage images from the All Hallows' Eve Scrapbook Pack by Quirky Twerp at the Digichick. The banner template I used is from Banners Set 1 from the Cutting files also from the Digichick.

There's also instructions on how to make these simple Yo-Yo flowers, they really are quick and easy!!

So pop over to The Hybrid Chick and check it out, oh and leave me a comment there if you like what you see!! Thanks!! Have a lovely day! : )

Butterfly & doily

Monday, October 18, 2010

I had a few minutes this afternoon so I whipped up a card! I combined a couple of challenges, the City Crafter Challenge theme this week is 'Take Flight' (you had to include something with wings!), the colors are from the Play Date Cafe color challenge and the doily is for my friend Debbie's Blog Birthday Celebration Challenge (there's a lovely prize on offer!) Oh and this is also for the Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge at The Moxie Fab World.

The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped with Sage VersaMagic. The lovely lace and stamped doily are from Sylvia (my swap partner for the Lace and Doily Swap at the City Crafter Party Blog) The buttons are from my mixed bag of buttons.

I used a little white acrylic paint on the edges of the card and sentiment. The big butterfly is Glimmer Chips - Nature by Tattered Angels. The piece of fabric behind the doily is a bit of bandage. Nothing is safe when it comes to finding materials for cardmaking!! : )

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card, blue paper, mint green paper
Ink: VersaMagic Sage, Brilliance Moonlight White
Stamps: Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Other: Sewing machine, lace, bandage, buttons, Glimmer Chips - Nature by Tattered Angels, white acrylic paint, twine.

Fall Fun!

An amazing photo for this week's challenge #32 at The Shabby Tea Room - Chocolate Covered Autumn!! Pattie is our host this week and her challenge is to create a card or project with cake, flowers, colors or all. I went with the colors for my card.

This week's sponsor is Meljen's Designs, a wonderful stamp company, their stamps are such fun! They provided us with some digi stamps to work with for our projects. There's a prize this week of four stamps of choice. Here's my card, I did just have fun with this one, I love walking through fallen leaves at this time of year and this card is a representation of that!

The digi stamps I used are Autumn Leaf & Acorn and the sentiment is a freebie Happy Fall. I looked at some real autumn leaves for the colors before I painted the leaves with watercolor paints. I added some shimmer by painting over some of the leaves with Creative Inspirations Paint.

The colors I used were Evergreen, Garnet, Chocolate, Pumpkin, and Burnt Clay. I pierced the stems and veins of the leaves for some interest. To add some dimension I used some foam pads between layers.

I know this card is a little different from what I normally do but I just love the colors of autumn leaves, even though I was a bit literal with my card! Hope you have a lovely day!

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card
Stamps: Autumn Leaf and Acorn, Happy Fall by Meljen's Designs
Other: Watercolor paints, brush, Creative Inspiration Paints, foam pads.

Mon Amie!

Saturday, October 16, 2010

I love this week's sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog, there's nothing like some direct stamping to stretch your creativity! Who would have thought labels would make a cool background stamp! I think the whole card ended up with a slightly French feel to it. I also added some pleating for the Moxie Fab World Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge. Here's the sketch I started with.

I really love how all the Mischief Maker's and WMS DT's cards all turned out so differently even though we all used the same sketch! I'm always excited to see what they'll come up with, they're such a talented bunch! Humbled to be amongst them!!

Yes, I am still playing with flowers, I think it is an addiction! I love these ones because they're SO quick to make. The centre is a simple rolled flower (tutorial here) from gauze bandage (I love the shabby texture) that I dyed in coffee, I didn't glue mine, I just stitched straight through in different directions to hold it together. The frill at the back of the flower is a torn length of cream dress lining (also dunked in coffee!) running stitch along one side and gathered. I stitched both pieced together but you could glue them. Flat backed pearl on top.

So, the background I repeat stamped using Holiday Labels No.14 by Waltzingmouse Stamps, I added the little motif to the centers of some and I used the motif from Victorian Fripperie for the others. The pretty sentiment is from Fancy Phrases. I distressed the edges by sponging with Coal Creative Inspirations Paint.

Don't forget the monthly Friends of WMS Blog waltz tomorrow, the theme is Autumn/Harvest. More details here. Have a lovely day! : )

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card, deep cream/ warm biscuit paper, black card
Ink: Black Ink it Up
Stamps: Holiday Label No.14, Fancy Phrases and Victorian Fripperie by Waltzingmouse Stamps
Other: Gauze bandage, lining fabric, flat backed pearl, lace, Coal Creative Inspirations Paint, sewing machine, ribbon.

PDCC #51

Friday, October 15, 2010

I couldn't resist the gorgeous color challenge over at the Play Date Cafe this week, such a beautiful, soft palette. Here's what I came up with.

I love the new Text It Stamp set by Waltzingmouse Stamps, it's great for backgrounds. I stamped it here using Brilliance Moonlight White. I stamped some pretty little butterflies from Laura Ashley over that.

The sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped using VersaMagic Magnolia Bud. I made the little rolled flower from gauze bandage that I dyed with coffee! I love these flowers, so quick to make! Here's the link to the tutorial. The piece behind it is a gathered piece of dress fabric lining also dyed with coffee.

I prettied it up a little with some Zva Creative self adhesive crystals, love these! I distressed the edges of the card a little with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I'll definitely use this color combo again, I think it had a relaxing effect on me!! : )

I'll be back tomorrow with my card for the new sketch over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog. You won't want to miss it, it's a super sketch!

Supplies:

Card/Paper: White card, blue paper, pale green paper
Stamps: Text It and Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps, Laura Ashley Collage Stamps
Ink: Brilliance Moonlight White, VersaMagic Magnolia Bud, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen
Other: Sewing machine, Zva Creative self adhesive crystals, lace, gauze bandage, flat backed pearl, narrow beige satin ribbon, foam pads, dress lining fabric, button.

Lace and Doily Swap!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

I just love the swaps at the City Crafter Party Blog, for this one the theme was Lace and Doilies!! How could I resist!! My lovely swap partner was Sylvia Nelson, she makes fabulous cards! Sylvia lives in Texas, I love getting parcels from all over the world! Sylvia sent me such a gorgeous selection, I love everything!! Have a closer look at some of the goodies!

Sylvia stamped some doilies and dyed a beautiful crocheted doily, love the color! (I've a feeling I'll be using this for a Christmas project!)

Look at all the lovely trims, lace, ribbon and cord, a little bit of everything! I love the turquoise tulle trim. I'm really happy with the selection because it's lots of things I don't already have. Thank you so much Sylvia!!!

Some of my favorite pieces of lace, Sylvia got in a flea market. They're so delicate, I'll have to use these in a very special project! Thanks Sylvia for these beauties!

Sylvia made these pretty flowers too!! You know how much I LOVE flowers!! Pop along to the City Crafter Party Blog and see what all the other swap partners received, you'll have to play along next time!! So much fun!! Oh and a big thank you to Kirsty Vittetoe for organizing the swap!! Can't wait for the next one!! : )
