Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Yay! Welcome to a great big Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz! Each design team member is using one of their favorite WMS stamp sets to create something fabulous. This is our first waltz with the new, ever bigger and better than before design team, all the former Mischief Makers have now joined the DT. Let's make them feel welcome! That's gonna be a whole lot of creativity, just wait for the next release... not too far away now! You should have arrived here from the lovely Laurie's blog. (The full blog list is at the end of this post).

Ok, so I chose to use Paris Nouveau as my favorite WMS set, but really it's just one of my favorites, I could never just pick just one!!

I stamped one of the gorgeous labels from Paris Nouveau using a mix of VersaMagic Magnolia Bud and Pixie Dust. These labels co-ordinate with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Five. I used the Paris text stamp to repeat stamp the background on the label, I didn't ink up after every impression to create some variation in tone. The Eiffel tower I stamped using VersaFine ink and cut out. I inked all the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink for a softer look.

Ok, the sentiment, technically not from the Paris Nouveau set, it's from Compact Sentiments but I really wanted to use it, I love the bolder font! It's stamped on a Double Ended Tag (Spellbinders).

The sweet flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I also used some silk ribbon and a little bit of lime twine.

Next up on the blog waltz is the talented Anya. If you missed anyone along the way, here's the full list of DT members participating in today's waltz. Enjoy the rest of the Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz!

CASE Study #130

Hello!! Sorry the blog has been a little quiet, I've been busy behind the scenes working on some projects and yesterday was my birthday! So I took it easy! : ) Ok, so it's our final week with the amazing Teri Anderson as our muse at CASE Study! I've certainly been inspired! Check out Teri's card this week.

I CASEd the use of gingham, the washi tape, the pocket, general layout, ribbon loop tag and the freestyle collage (attempt at it anyway!).

What's better than a handmade card? A handmade card with chocolate!! Instead of money (which is good too!) I opted to add a bar of yummy chocolate into the pocket I made on the front of the card. I covered it with some pink paper and some We've Got Your Border Pastel stickers from SRM Stickers.

The fabulous butterfly from Nordic Spring from Waltzingmouse Stamps I stamped using Lemon Yellow ink and cut out. The gingham background I stamped using VersaMagic Pink Petunia and Gingham & Co from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

The sentiment is from Sticker Sentiments Spring from SRM Stickers. The floral paper is from Crate Paper Little Bo Beep.

I added a little bit of yellow gingham washi tape, some more SRM Stickers - We've Got Your Border Pastel and a little die cut felt flower.

Yea, so I had lots of fun with this one, it was hard to incorporate so many elements but I tried not get too uptight about it and I was pleased with the end result! A happy, sunny card! : )

Now check out how my CASE Study team mates were inspired by Teri's card this week! I'll be back later for a special Waltzingmouse Stamps blog waltz (hop)! See you then!

Happy Birthday - TCM

I've a card today over at The Craft's Meow blog using the beautiful Happiness Is and Sew Happy stamp sets, here's a little peek. I used Distress Stains and Distress Markers to color the flower and leaves. Pop over to The Craft's Meow blog to find out more. I'll be back real soon with my CASE Study card!

A card just for fun...

Friday, February 22, 2013

Sometimes it's nice to make a card just for fun, not for any DT or for any challenge, using some of your favorite things. SO, I did, I love polka dots, I love ditsy floral prints, I love banners, I love lace and the result is a happy card, just to please myself!

I used Bitty Banners from Waltzingmouse Stamps to stamp the banner (Memento Rose Bud and VersaMagic Thatched Straw). The floral print paper is from Little Bo Peep from Crate Paper.

The sentiment is from Compact Sentiments Part 2 from Waltzingmouse Stamps and I just cut around it.

The sweet pink Floral Damask ribbon is from Craft Fairy, it's so pretty!  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Ok, I hope you all have a great weekend. I'm off to attempt to bake my grandma's gingerbread cake, I found her recipe the other day and as a child I remember it being the most delicious cake. I have attempted other gingerbread cake recipes in the past but found they turned out too dense and I remember my grandma's version as fluffy with an amazing slightly sticky crumb. I do hope it turns out like hers but I may have to experiment as I have to use wheat/gluen-free flour and dairy free spread! Fingers crossed! : )

10 Minute Craft Dash #12

I've seen a few of my crafty friends taking part in this great challenge, the 10 Minute Craft Dash. I kept on thinking there's no way I could make any kind of card in just 10 minutes but hey I thought I'd give it a go anyway. I did actually enjoy the process and I can see the value in it, especially for me as I tend to over-think my cards.

I didn't really think about what I was going to do too much, I just grabbed some stuff I thought I wanted to use. I did have to stop the clock once just to grab some brown ink which I forgot at the beginning. Here's the card, ok it's not my best but it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be!

I used Vintage Garden - Flowers from Waltzingmouse Stamps, stamped quickly with Memento Rose Bud ink. I used Say it Loud also from Waltzingmouse Stamps for the sentiment, stamped using Coffee ink from Ranger. The thought of stamping on a separate piece of card flew into my head but it soon flew out when I checked the time I had left!

So it took me just 8 minutes and 10 seconds to make the card from start to finish! Fastest card ever for me!! This didn't include clean up time by the way! I'll definitely be giving it a go again. I can't complain I don't have enough time for it, I squeezed this one in just before lunch!

The Craft's Meow February release blog hop

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Hello and welcome to The Craft's Meow February release blog hop. Visit The Craft's Meow blog to see the full list of participants. I used the new Rejoice stamp set on my card.

I used an interesting technique to create the shimmery background paper, I embossed some Core'dinations cardstock using the Baroque embossing folder from Sizzix, then using a glue pen covered the raised sections (it did take a little while) and added some gilding flakes. I brushed off the excess flakes and buffed to a shine with a soft bristled brush.

The lovely large sentiment is from the new Rejoice stamp set, the sentiments in this set are such a great size. They really make a statement.

To coordinate with the shimmery background I added some gorgeous Gold Shimmer Twine from SRM Stickers. I love this stunning twine, it really is fabulous!

Just a reminder that the Soaring High stamp set is February's free gift with $50 purchase. It really is a fab free gift!

The color inspiration was from this week's Tuesday Trigger - Set The Table at Moxie Fab World, I was really inspired by the metallic elements and neutral tones in the photo.

Don't forget you have a chance to win all five stamp sets from this release by leaving a comment on the design team's and TCM blogs. The deadline to comment is 9pm PDT Wednesday February 23rd. Next up on the hop is the talented Gayatri. Enjoy the rest of the hop!! : )

CASE Study #129

It's week three at CASE Study with the fantastic Teri Anderson as our muse. Check out Teri's amazing creation this week. I love the diagonals on this one.

I CASEd the basic layout, use of Baker's Twine and I stayed close to the original color palette.

I used the new Geometric Foundations stamp set from The Craft's Meow to stamp the diagonal designs. I pierced some holes in the design and added some Mandarin Twine and some Buttercream Twine from SRM Stickers.

The sentiment is also from the Geometric Foundations stamp set from The Craft's Meow. I added a little twill ribbon tab attached with a staple.

Visit the CASE Study blog to see the wonderful creations from my CASE Study team-mates. I'll be back soon for The Craft's Meow February release blog hop! Thanks for stopping by! : )

The Craft's Meow February Release Preview Day 4: Soaring High/Rejoice

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Welcome to day four of The Craft's Meow February release previews. Today we are previewing Soaring High and Rejoice. Soaring High is the free gift with $50 purchase. The card I made here just features the Soaring High set, my card for tomorrow's release day blog hop will highlight stamps from the Rejoice set.

I love the beautiful sentiments in this set, the scripted font is just stunning, there are three sentiments in the set. There are also three bird stamps, each with a different texture or print.

The largest bird (above) is my favorite, I love the little swirl and text print incorporated into the stamp, it stamps beautifully. Here I used VersaMagic Aegean Blue.

Visit The Craft's Meow Blog to see the creations from my team-mates and our February guest designer Lynn Mangan. Leave a comment on The Craft's Meow Blog by 8pm PST to be in with a chance of winning a stamp set. I'll be back tomorrow for the release day blog hop. See you then!

The Craft's Meow February Release Preview Day 2: Easter Blessings

Monday, February 18, 2013

Welcome to day two of The Craft's Meow February release. Today we are previewing Easter Blessings designed by Karen Baker. I love this set! The sentiments are a great size and I love the little animal silhouettes. Here's my first card.

I used the bunny stamp to create the background using a pastel palette. The scripted font works so well with the animal silhouettes.

For my second card I used the sweet lamb silhouette, there's also a little chick in the set. I partially embossed the background and cut the 'grassy area' from some patterned paper. I also added a little hand stitching.

The lamb was very easy to fussy cut. For some added dimension I propped it up on some foam pads.

Pop over to The Craft's Meow Blog to see the rest of the creations from my team-mates and our February guest designer Lynn Mangan. Leave a comment by 8pm PST tonight at The Craft's Meow blog to be in with a chance of winning a stamp set. Thanks for dropping by, I'll be back tomorrow with another preview.

The Craft's Meow February Release Preview Day 1: Baby Shelf

Sunday, February 17, 2013

The Craft's meow

Welcome to the previews of the February stamp sets being released by The Craft's Meow. Today we are previewing Baby Shelf by Nina B Designs for The Craft's Meow.

This new set coordinates with the previously released stamp set Beautiful Shelf. Baby Shelf is packed full of adorable sentiments, there's the sweetest bear stamp, two banners and a lovely lamp. Here's my first card for today.

I made some cute patterned paper using the sweet bear stamp from the set. I teamed the pink with some kraft cardstock and stamped a combo of sentiments, I love that little banner!

After making this little girly card, I kinda felt I had to make one for a boy too. Instead of blue I opted for a turquoise. Again I stamped the patterned paper using the bear stamp.

This is my favorite sentiment in this set, I love the mix of fonts, it works so well. Again I stamped it on some kraft cardstock and added some wooden buttons, which I think work well with the kraft.

The Blossom Twine I used in the first card and Caribbean Twine on this one are both from SRM Stickers. Pop over to The Craft's Meow blog to see what wonderful creations my team-mates have come up with and our February Guest Designer Lynn Mangan. Leave a comment by 8pm PST tonight at The Craft's Meow blog to be in with a chance of winning a stamp set. I'll be back tomorrow with another preview.
